Enlightenment of Principle, Mind, and Spirit
Enlightenment of Principle, Mind, and Spirit - The Dao Culture
Enlightenment can be broadly distinguished in three areas: enlightenment of
principle, enlightenment of mind, and enlightenment of spiriti.
Enlightenment of principle is a thorough understanding of questions such
as: how did the universe come into being? How does it function? Why were humans
born? What is their nature? Attainment of this enlightenment allows proper
reasoning and discerment. It also gives the strength and capacity to live
soundly. Confucius exemplified this enlightenment.
Enlightenment of the
mind is attained through cultivating the mind and realizing that mind is the
origin of everything in heaven and earth. Shakyamuni Buddha exemplified this
enlightenment.
With the enlightenment of spirit comes the realization
that the whole universe came into being by the creative power of spirit. By the
breath of spirit we are born. Thus, we are one with spirit. In the field of
Immortalism, enlightenment into the creativity of spirit is attained. In the
East, Immortalism, which speaks of the human attaining everlasting life,
exemplifies the enlightenment of spiriit.
Also Jesus, who attained the
way of spirits, shared a powerful message about the spirit world. In this
respect, Christianit in the West shares a kinship with the culture of
Immortalism in the East.
